By Air:
From abroad, the only way to reach São Miguel Island is trough Ponta Delgada Airport. There are several daily flights from Lisbon and Oporto Airports (mainland Portugal) operated by TAP, AzoresAirlines and Ryanair. AzoresAirlines fly direct from Boston (daily), Providence (weekly), Toronto (4 days a week), Montreal (weekly), Frankfurt (3 days a week) and London-Gatwick (weekly). Ryanair fly weekly from Frankfurt-Hahn, London-Stansted and Manchester. Delta Airlines flies 5 days a week from New York-JFK. Ponta Delgada airport is 3 km away from Ponta Delgada down town/Universidade dos Açores. Taxis and rent-a-car available at the airport.
Local Transportation:
Universidade dos Açores is easily reachable by foot walk from most hotels located at Ponta Delgada town area. Nerveless, PDL Mini Bus system may help you get there quickly. Rua Mãe de Deus station (Orange line) and Rua de São Gonçalo-Universidade station (Green line) stand at university entrance gates.
